Pottery Lessons

Adults and Children Welcome
Learn how to create, paint and fire your own
hand made piece of authentic Costa Rican
pottery.
Class Description:
A small to medium piece requires 3-4 days of instruction @ $ 20/per class
Classes are approximately 1 hour. How many classes required is dependent on the detail of the piece and the student's work style/speed.
Day 1:
~ Create the piece
Day 2:
~ Hand polishing and molding
~ Application of base coat
~ Paint design
Day 3:
~ Final hand polishing
Classes do not have to be done on consequetive days - but at least 3 days of classes are required to complete a piece. Clay needs approximately 24 hours to dry in between each step.
After this, the piece is fired on-site in our wood burning kiln. Student does not have to be present for firing.
Painting/Decorating a piece of pottery - prices start at $20
(price is dependant on size of piece)
All classes are taught by local Costa Rican artist, Arbin Espinoza Guevara. Arbin has over 15 years experience in pottery making and is from the town of Guailtil which is known for this ancient art technique.
